The Raising of a Friend

Before the stone was rolled away, there was silence—thick with grief, finality, and the unspoken certainty that death had won. In John 11, we are invited to stand with Mary and Martha at the tomb of Lazarus, to feel the weight of loss, and to hear again the astonishing voice of Jesus calling into the darkness: “Lazarus, come out.”

The images that follow attempt to capture that moment—the tension, the tears, the command, and the life that breaks forth where none seemed possible. This is not only a story about one man long ago. It is a window into the heart of Christ, who enters our sorrow, confronts our death, and calls us, even now, into life.
